At a recent show of Steven Bartlett in Theatre Royal Glasgow, he shared his five buckets philosophy on success, so I thought I'd share it with you.
5 Buckets you need to be successful:
Essentially, the premise is that the first two buckets, Skills and Knowledge, can never be taken away from you. However, the other three, Network, Resources, and Reputation will vary throughout your life.
The important thing to remember is that you can keep adding to your skills and knowledge throughout your life and they act as the foundation for building your success.
You can't take shortcuts and miss out on skills and knowledge.
Steven told a story of various individuals who have tried to take shortcuts and build their success through building a network, acquiring resources, and/or managing their reputation, only to be caught out eventually.
The morale is to always focus on your skills and knowledge first, before you look to fill the other three buckets.
Only then will you be building from a position of strength.
Thought for the Weekend #TFTW
"When you overthink, remember this quote: Worrying does not take away tomorrow's trouble, but it always takes away today's peace."
Worrying about tomorrow always has a cost but never a payoff. So why pay the bill?
This one reminds us to let go of that which we have no control over, or to instead act when we do have some control.
But never worry, because it never gives you a return, and only steals from your present state.
Don't let it!
